Position: Equipment Technician/Driver
Location: Worcester, MA
Job Type: Full-time (37.5 hours/week)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours per day
Starting Pay: $20.00 per hour

Join REquipment Inc.’s Worcester team, refurbishing and delivering donated wheelchairs, rollators, and other devices to individuals with disabilities of all ages. The ideal candidate is passionate about REquipment’s nonprofit mission, enjoys interacting with people, and excels in both collaborative and independent work environments. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined and enjoys being on the road, feeling like Santa Claus.

Key Responsibilities

Refurbishment & Repair:

  • Clean, detail, and refurbish various DME, including power and manual wheelchairs, lifts, gait trainers, and standers.
  • Perform safety checks and replace parts as needed to ensure equipment is in top working condition.

Inventory & Organization:

  • Assign inventory numbers and document refurbished items through digital photography.
  • Post refurbished items to the program’s online inventory.
  • Store equipment in designated, clean areas with proper bagging, ensuring organized and safe storage for easy access.
  • Cover and store “dirty” picked-up items in a designated “dirty” room area.
  • Participate in regular inventory checks.

Logistics and Delivery:

  • Assist with equipment pick-ups and deliveries across the region.
  • Perform safety checks per checklist provided with agency vehicle being utilized to pick up or deliver devices.
  • Ensures tools, supplies, and equipment required to move devices are in the vehicle and in working order.
  • Research directions and schedule/confirm appointment times with customers the day before pick-up or delivery.
  • Provide customers with manuals, written materials, or other instructions upon delivery.
  • Maintain vehicle mileage logs, gas cards, etc.

Other:

  • Comply with quality/safety protocols and procedures, including REquipment COVID protocols.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Program Director and/or Worcester Site Coordinator.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in mechanical repair preferred 
  • Ability to work independently while following instructions
  • Valid driver’s license for a minimum of 5 years
  • COVID-19 vaccination
  • Must pass a criminal record check (CORI)
  • Bilingual in Spanish or Portuguese is a plus, but not a requirement
