The Joint Conference Committee of the Massachusetts Legislature has rejected the proposed $500,000 cut to REquipment! Thank you to everyone who advocated to prevent this devastating cut to the statewide reuse program. Your advocacy and relationship with your state legislators’ offices made a big, decisive difference.
REquipment is still running the numbers, but so far it looks safe to say that the state’s total appropriation to REquipment for the fiscal year that ends today has yielded a return on investment of 200%.
Devices valued at $4M were distributed with a state appropriation of $1.4M in FY25. Thousands of devices are with individuals with disabilities and their families instead of in the landfill.
