Across Massachusetts, Senior centers provide services and programs for people aged 55 and older. Some are also a great place to donate or find durable medical equipment such as walkers, shower benches, commodes, and wheelchairs. Greater Boston Region

Hospital Equipment Loan Program (H.E.L.P)

H.E.L.P. operates on Saturday mornings only (9:00 am – 12:00 pm) by volunteers from the Masons. DME, such as wheelchairs, rollators, tub benches, hospital beds, sling lifts, canes, commodes, etc., is available to borrow free for home use. Pick up only, no delivery.

Quincy Helping Hand

Serves cities and towns around Quincy, MA, with donated DME, including walkers, manual wheelchairs, crutches, canes, commodes, and tub benches.

Scituate Etrusco Associates

Scituate Etrusco Associates provides loans of gently used DME such as manual wheelchairs, walkers, canes, and tub seats for use by residents of Scituate, Rockland, Hull, Hanover, Hingham, Cohasset, Marshfield, Norwell, Duxbury, Pembroke, and Kingston. Accepts hospital beds but not power wheelchairs.

Cape Cod

Cape Cod Hospital Equipment Loan Program (H.E.L.P.)

Cape Cod H.E.L.P. loans wheelchairs, rollators, tub benches, hospital beds, sling lifts, canes, commodes, etc., free for home use. Pick up only, no delivery. They are open from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturdays. Operated by the Masons.

Stavros Center for Independent Living

Stavros accepts donated DME in Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin counties. Refurbishes DME and delivers within their service area. Stavros is home to one of the REquipment Reuse Partner centers and also provides a DME loaner program.

United Cerebral Palsy of Western Massachusetts

UCP of Western Massachusetts operates a REquipment Reuse Partner center and a loaner program. Accepts and refurbishes donated wheeled mobility and other DME devices in Berkshire County. Provides DME at no cost. Delivery is available.

Western Massachusetts H.E.L.P.

Western Mass H.E.L.P. loans wheelchairs, rollators, tub benches, hospital beds, sling lifts, canes, commodes, etc., free for home use. Pick up only, no delivery. They are open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturdays. Pick up and drop off only (no delivery). Operated by the Masons.

Programs Providing Access Ramps

Need a ramp to get in and out of your home? Ramps range from simple threshold or portable ramps to ramp systems and custom-made ramps.

AT Regional Centers (ATRCs)

ATRCs provide loaner ramps and advise on the right equipment for individual needs. The service is free. ATRCs are located in Boston, Worcester, and Pittsfield.
